Abhyasika<br />
Our Abhyasika exists to promote inclusive growth and development, reduce inequality, and provide opportunities to reach their full potential. A curriculum called ‘Balmitra” is specifically curated by educational experts for the Samutkarsh project. All activities are designed to improve the basics and overall cognitive skills of the students.</p>

Activity Report Summary
Introduction
In collaboration with the Birewar Foundation, the Seva Sahayog Foundation has continued to enhance educational opportunities through the "Samutkarsh Project" (Community Learning Centers) initiative. These programs have successfully brought experiential learning and community-based educational support to underserved regions in Karjat and Thane. This year, our focus has been on expanding reach, optimising programs, and effectively addressing community needs.
Samutkarsh (Community Learning Center)
Objectives
Provide a conducive learning environment for students from socio-economically weaker sections.
Offer curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities to develop life skills.
Achievements
Abhyasika + Support Class (Study Centres)
Maintained a 78 % average attendance rate in Abhyasika Centres till March 2026.
Conducted average 235 learning days per centre for primary and secondary students.
100% coverage of the 1st term Balmitra syllabus till September 2025.
100% coverage of the 2nd term Balmitra syllabus till March 2026.
A total of 333 students from various Abhyasikas received school kits containing essential learning materials.
01 from 6th and 1 from 9th standard students appeared for Homi Bhabha Balvaidnyanik Exam.
2 students appeared for the NMMS Scholarship Exam
7 from 5th and 1 from 9th standard students appeared for the State Scholarship Exam.
Conducted Residential Life Skills Nurturing Camp for 22 Students under Samutkarsh Project in November 2025.
A total of 33 students from Thane and Karjat participated in the Interzonal Varshikotsav.
An exposure visit was organized for 48 Abhyasika students from Karjat at Prakash Mohadikar Knowledge Park.
Significant Achievements
In 2025–26, the number of Abhyasika centres increased from 4 to 14, with student enrollment rising from 135 to 333, indicating significant growth in outreach and expansion.
A total of 33 students participated in the Interzonal Varshikotsav competitions. Among them, 2 students secured first rank and 2 students received second prize, reflecting their commendable performance and confidence.
2 students from 8th standard have passed the NMMS Scholarship Competitive Exam.
Teachers scored an average of 63% in teaching ability tests to ensure high teaching standards.
Baseline to endline analysis shows a reduction in early-stage learners (English 11% to 2%, Arithmetic 6% to 2%) and improved proficiency levels, with FLN reading increasing from 28% to 49%, English from 17% to 37%, and Arithmetic from 31% to 47% and 23% to 34%, indicating overall learning gains across domains.
The 1st and 2nd Term Balmitra Assessment shows a reduction in ‘Below Average’ students from 22% to 14%, while 65% of students fall under ‘Very Good’ and above, with 34% achieving ‘Excellent’ performance in Term 2.
Challenges and Solutions
Reduced student attendance during festival days affected the completion of planned sessions.
Limited classroom space because of festivals in some centers restricted group learning activities.
Frequent power outages caused by heavy rainfall disrupted the daily operations of Abhyasika.
Low attendance during festivals was addressed by adjusting session schedules and conducting focused revision activities after the festive period.
